It’s a bummer that you were not able to afford the last min. ticket. I know that we have all made some serious sacrifice in our lives, but cutting back on our true passion (that should be our driving force in life) is a real damper. Oh well, there is always next year :) :) :)

Thanks for the mention Erin! I just saw this and I'm glad you're following along. I'm running my first (and second) 5k's this weekend and am proud to admit that I finally love running. And that I'm no longer a couch potato :) I definitely agree that other people's running stories are what motivate me to keep going, even on some of the bad days. Thanks again!

I battle with a knee problem as well... I think it's "Iliotibial band syndrome"... maybe the same problem you have?
Every time I get the mileage up, or if increase too fast it will act up. Went to the Dr. a couple years ago and he basically said i need to not run everyday and do other things (like swim)... And, well... he's probably right.
Anyway, I find it really helps the knee to do some strength training on off days. Those walking lunge things are easy to do anywhere and seem to help me a lot.

Happy Running!!

I somehow missed the part where it explains where you got paid to take a shower. The link said 'Get paid to take a shower'. I would like to know how I can get paid to take showers. I love taking showers. I take 2 - 3 a day. It would be great to have an audience though.

I live in the Canadian Prairies (Calgary, Alberta to be exact). We have our shares of extreme cold days. I run outdoor year around. There is no bad weather for running, only bad clothing. If you dress for it, you can run in any weather. I have run 20-22mi in minus 30-40F weather. I don't mind being cold so I don't wear a whole lot of layers even in those conditions. Most days, 3 layers on top and a pair of thermal tights would be fine.
